My Roomba arrived safe and sound, as has been twice and wrapped in bags. After the initial charge, went out and runs and has 3 rooms, before returing to their charger without any problems at all. I empty the tray and the filter several times, as I was told by a friend, I should do. There is no heating, which is full, you must play by ear. Raised a huge amount of dirt and other small things in the carpet and fell on the floor hard. Ithought it was a great job. And 'clean under my bed and under sofas and chairs without serveral problems. It 'went beyond cables and wires with just one hitch. Could leave several tight situations. I cleaned the rollers and bearings, pins and hair long after the initial cleaning. I continue to check the brushes after each use, but there was little time to clean out. I run every day a couple of times, but now I just do it, if one or two days. I also runin the lower level, is short shag carpet, and the second floor which has a flat pile. Works equally well on any type of carpet. I also put in my porch, turn the star, and has a hard surface. It 'cleaned up all the winter debris, including a pair of leaves. I feel the robot running around the house, and I tend to start going to bed. As a kind of watcman night patrol. There were only two occasions when the unit is onlyBack to the charging station before it ran out of the load. I think this is one of my best online purchases before, and I do a lot of them. The price was very good when I bought it, but when I went to another sale last week, the price had gone up, but still below the competition. I recommend this particular moded. There are several other models, but I think this, for which long battery life, is a good choice. Follow the instructions and take the brush andCamp clean, and I think you will be very satisfied.

I bought this as a gift for my particular (older) parents. She was thrilled with him. He sat out easily and cleans very well. It also appears the transition between soil types and efficiency in the nose under furniture and in corners. I was initially reluctant to purchase, it was just an expensive "gadgets", but has proven to be a good choice.

IRobot 535 Stopped working after 13 months - R. Winners -
I got the iRobot 535 for 13 months and broke. All it does is go around circles and beeps 9 times. IRobot does not replace it because the warranty only good for 12 months. I only have my robot once a week.

HQRP 3300mAh APS Battery for iROBOT Roomba 550 / 560 / 570 / 580 [Vacuum Cleaning Robot] Replacement plus HQRP Mousepad Review

The original battery in my Roomba 550 has been able to run the vacuum for about two hours at first. After the first year, its duration has decreased by about one hour. And 'deteriorated rapidly over the next 6 months, so that the vacuum can only be run for 3-4 minutes before the dreaded "I-am-beep die. I tried everything to revive the battery, including opening the package and deep-discharging/charging manually. Finally, I concluded that the internal battery has developed a highResistance and can not be saved. That is why I ordered this product (GSP HQRP 3300mAh Battery for iRobot Roomba 550-580) in November last year.

There have been several similar products, which showed when I tried to "Roomba 500 Replacement Battery" on Amazon. This is not the best location, but I chose mainly because the product description is accurate (it says the capacity of 3300mAh, which is 10% higher than the original 3000mAh battery for the Roomba), and comes with aguarantee of 100 days. Instead, specify the other, no less batteries (like the iRobot R3 500 series APS Battery) the ability, but simply make vague claims like "50 percent greater useful life of the original Roomba batteries. In addition, their images show a level of non-branded battery. So there is to say, given the generic nature of the battery.

I installed this battery HQRP arrival and guided my Roomba 550 to directly. Italso had a vacuum for several minutes to run before recharging. This is a good sign because it means that the battery does not suffer from the problem of rapid self-discharge NiMH cells like many others. After a few charge discharge cycles (which were necessary to bring the battery to its full capacity), my Roomba was then able to operate for at least 2 hours, with the indicator still orange (not red). So I think the ability to '3300mAh declared to be "exactly.

Obviously it is too early to say whether this is the last box of spare more than 12 months in my Roomba. But so far has produced wonderfully for more than 3 months, with no signs of slowing down - yet. I will update this review if any problem arises in the future.

Started off happy, but breaks quickly and warranty not honored - Brian C - Kansas CIty, MO
Like most of the reviews I was originally very happy with Roomba, and give it a very positive 5 star review, but the robot broke after less than a year. I learned not only is it very cheaply built, but its bad design leaves it vulnerable to the dust it is supposed to be designed to pick up.

It turns out its parts are very vulnerable to dust which is a major issue for a vacuum cleaner. None of the gears, barings, or moving components are sealed so dust gets into them and they start to grind until they fail. Even the gears and bearings that drive the bushes are unsealed leaving them vulnerable to the dust and dirt they are designed to pick up.

Eventually the brushes on the bottom stopped working. The tech support person confirmed that it was still under warranty, and that the problem was a documented know fault with the design. They how ever refused to replace it. The only thing they would offer was to send me new parts that I would have to replace my self. I explained I am not a tech of any kind and did not feel I was qualified to replace small gears that need to be precisely installed. They said sending me the parts was all they would do for me.

iRobot R3 500 series APS Battery Review

When my 18 month old Roomba vacuum started to falter and not perform as well as it had originally, I first consulted the manufacturer's Web site for answers. When the company's troubleshooting FAQs didn't bring about improvement, I corresponded directly with one of their customer service representatives. While that person was very helpful, it quickly became evident that I needed a new battery. On the manufacturer's Web site, a new battery sells for more than twice the amount that Amazon sells the same battery for. At first, I was hesitant, thinking there was no way we could be talking about the same product, but, after reading other customers' reviews and comments, I felt confident enough to "risk" saving over .00. I'm happy to report that the new battery is identical to the old one, was delivered in brand new condition, and seems to be working perfectly (I'm vacuuming as I'm typing this review right now). If this battery lasts as long as (or longer than) the original battery, I will gladly raise my "star rating" from four to five.

I bought this item without too much checking around. In comparison with iRobot's battery, it is a significant savings. I put in into a 510 model and it works immediately. I did not even have to charge it (it is kind of pre-charged). I ran the 510 for about 45 minutes and the light turned to orange, indicating maybe 50% power left in the battery.

It took longer to charge it up fully, when compared to the original iRobot battery when it was new(maybe it is due to the fact that this was the first time I charged the batter.) It seems to last longer than the original battery, maybe that is why it takes longer to charge.

The replacement was easy, four small phillip screws, and battery comes out easily. It took me about 10 minutes to change the battery. (But it took a long longer to clean up the 510.)

Highly recommended.

Handy Add On, but Way over Priced - Lost My Mind - California, United States
Roomba virtual wall is working with the 500 Series Roomba's. There are no guarantees to work with other series.

The product works as promised, in fact keep Roomba from crossing an invisible "wall." The wall is not perfectly straight over long distances, but is close enough. The virtual wall is less trouble to move furniture or boxes Roomba in one room or a private sitting room to close. Most of the Roomba with at least 1 virtual wall to come to any interested parties already know how it is usedhow it works (or not), and because they want more.

The reason for the category 3 stars is the high price. The product itself is not very demanding and only a small update on the previous generation virtual walls. Does not provide additional functionality, battery life is only slightly higher, not less.

I simply could not give this product a 5 stars, when half the price ... As such, they are there with a freebie, "and others that I bought. Ideally I would likeobtained tends to take care of one or two and some bends Roomba falters.

But, as with most products, accessories and spare parts is where the real money. The iRobot Roomba is no exception to this rule.

iRobot 610 Roomba Professional Series Review

This is my first Roomba and I hope that I have seen and read this before Christmas, so I could ask hubby as a gift. They are my purchase from Hammacher Schlemmer for the lifetime warranty, free shipping, the more I am on a $ 50, so I got mine for $ 549.00 with all the add-on tools.

I work full time as an RN. I have only two or three days a week, sometimes I work during the weekend. We have 5 cats. Although there are 3 young people who we trained to clean up ""make realistic, they do a good job for having a clean house (or clean room), unless the parents have to be monitored. Hubby does not help much, since only the volunteers to do a thorough cleaning once in a blue moon, and takes her disorder from time to time.

Now that I Viki (from the computer of rebel iRobot movie) called my youngest child (12) was so impressed that he quickly learned to use and clean, if he did (before he had the opportunity to do the same ).My husband was so impressed with the technology (not hubby homebased jobs and is very technophiles) Viki and efficiency, but he knows how to keep "this expensive electronic gadgets, things from the ground (small wires, rubber bands, large pieces paper, etc.), cleaning brush, save Viki from their dilemma at a time when it would "call" for help, and not running (Viki's life too soon, it could take off). The result is now taking his Chaos and meI no longer have to keep from annoying about it (which is one of the larger car shows at home!). He enjoys seeing the dirt that collects in the trash after a cleaning.

Both of us like to go home to a clean house.

Now I have time, I have to bend, reach under the bed / furniture with the traditional vacuum cleaner, push-pull cable vacuum, etc. Trade with time my treadmill instead of running, while I do a movie

I am the happiest now a memberin our family, and when the mother is happy, everyone is happy.

UPDATE 3/6/2010:

Viki (our nickname Rooba) was beeping the other day and said: "Error 2: Cage and brush to clean the Roomba brushes to remove. So I did. I usually thorough cleaning of the brushes, including the removal of the yellow part of the tangle of hair and fur receive. The box was too full. I let it go, and did the same after 1 minute or so. Our house is 3000 square feet and a story. I have a new baby scan and 3 other children, a child and two children under 8 years. We also have a pet, a cat. So normally I would run the vacuum in his hand after each meal. But with the Roomba, I did not need. I have to run every night after dinner in the dining room. Perfect! Takes what may be the children behind. Every morning I clean the room of family, school and games room. Once a week agoBedroom.

I'm clean like crazy, is this thing has been a life saver. My father was enthusiastic about these things forever, and I thought he was crazy. After most of the cleaning at my house every morning so that my daughter would not have touched the fur of animals when he woke up, I rushed and bought it. Now awake and floors spotless, it's wonderful. This car is for daily maintenance. If you put in a house with a dirt floor, do not expect a miracle, you need to pauseMachine. iRobot 530 Roomba Vacuuming Robot, White Review

We love our Roomba. These scales smart, intelligent, hard floors and what is also very thick carpet, it absorbs a lot better than our standard vacuum (the top of the line was almost 5 years ago), and we love that can get out of the curve and to extricate themselves from most of the wires. As long as you clean a little 'effort after having first put in motion, there is a huge time saver and does a great job!

However, there are some things that weI do not like all children, for us, despite the length of the list:
* Brought to my mother's house, had a plant "pony tail" on the ground. Difficult to describe the plant, but the most important thing is that the thin sheets wrapped around your arm rotating dust, and almost took over the plant. Luckily I had just started and that has happened before.
* Sometimes the threads are wound around the rotating arm blinding. The best way to get on your rope from the ground.
*Although it is smart for the standard extension cord and audio / video cables that are thick enough, you try sometimes very subtle low voltage DC wiring, as you can use with the charger for a cordless phone or baby monitor, inhale. Sometimes it actually pulls the plug from the wall. ... But it no longer seems out and put on the cable and put aside for me to deal with later.
* Pet hair and long hair of my daughter is wrapped around the bordersbrushes and it is difficult to clean. It's a miracle - macker - North Carolina
This product has far exceeded my expectations. We have 2 large dogs and wooden floors many. I am the Roomba 530 almost every day and does a good job to keep floors clean, especially in places that I never got the tables, under beds, in what way and under. I rarely have to break the gap bigger. You have to throw in the trash after every wash, but it only takes a minute. It also obliges to keep the chaos out of the ground, so that our house has never looked so good. iRobot 560 Roomba Vacuuming Robot, Black and Silver Review

I didn't get the housecleaning gene, so I'm always looking for a way to get it done effectively and with as little time and effort as possible, so I can do things I enjoy. I actually have come to enjoy using my iRobot Scooba and Roombas, as well as my Dirt Dog Shop Robot.

Since I have inside dogs and I do a lot of yard work and gardening, in red clay Oklahoma dirt, my hardwood floors and tile floors take a beating. I've already reviewed the Scooba and Dirt Dog and how helpful they are to me.

The Roomba is so much fun to just start up by hitting the button, and then watch it go. It makes a little noise, so I usually close the door so I can talk on the phone and take care of my business, which I operate from home. Later Roomba stops, either because it's finished and it makes a little celebratory song to let you know, or because it needs to be recharged. I have extra batteries and just plop one in and hit 'play' again. Sometimes it tells you that it needs to be emptied. While not exactly my favorite chore, although it's great fun to see how much dirt it has picked up, it's no big deal to shake out the dirt and the filter, replace it and let it go again.

Roomba is a great idea for me. A really great housekeeper will probably not be amused by it, and will likely say that it just doesn't clean to his or her standards, but I find it a great time-saver and it cleans MUCH better than I would if I were doing it myself.

Oh, and my dogs just stay out of its way. It wouldn't hurt them anyway, but they just keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't bump into them, which they are sure they don't want to happen. When it does happen, they just move. It's actually a distraction for them and keeps them from being bored and bugging me to go out, have a treat, etc. It keeps them occupied, if not actually entertained.

I love my Roomba and recommend it. It doesn't offend me a bit to know that it cleans better than I do.

Great - Happy Grandma - Michigan
The Roomba is perfect...except...only thing I am disappointed with is that the silver on top is getting very scratched as it goes under furniture so that within the first week of using it my Roomba looked old. Considering how expensive the product is, it seems they could have used a little higher quality metal on the top. Other than that, this is a classy machine. I love how easy it is to clean and the superb job it does vacuuming.

Waited a year to write a review - got this as a Christmas gift in 2009, on a whim. Just like the Ipod (or DVR), this is a game-changer in its field, and it has revolutionized our house-cleaning. My wife has "roomie" running ragged, and it is still doing it's thing a year later. We set it up (via the lighthouses and other physical barriers) to clean one room at a time, then empty the bin and clean the brushes, charge it, and set it loose on another room. Haven't had any reliability issues, but once it goes (as it inevitably will at the pace we have it working), we will replace it with a new model. A number of our family members bought it and have become huge fans as well after we raved about it. Highly reccommended for anyone with a lot of vaccuming to do.

Stop every 1-2 min since used for 2 days - BlueSky -
My 560 roomba arrived last Fri, right out of box, charged and used for 2 days. Encounted a big problem, since the first time use, it stop every 1-2 min, gave "error 2" message - remove and clean roomba brushes. But brushes are clean, no hair or anything, dust bin is still empty. So every time, I have to lift up the roobma and re- push the button to start, and it will work again. This is every time deal, never woked over 2 min since used in these 2 days. I tried to use it on the tile floor, carpet, none will make it work more than 2 min.

I called tech support, was told it is the cleaning head modular problem. Waiting to receive the part to replace. Will see if it will work with replaced part. If not, need to return because if every 1 or 2 min I have to lift up the roomba and re-push the button to start, it is worse than vacuum myself using upright vacumm cleaner.

The other problem, it keeps cleaning along the eadge of the room but skep the middle of the room - the large area.

The last problem so far for the limited time usage, I found out, that it picks dust well so the filter need to clean up soon but the dust bin always empty - not really pick up other stuff, even the very tiny fabric drop from tower or cloth or hair (even on the tile floor).

Because it keeps stop, I cannot see if let it continues to cleaning the room for 25 min (as estimate for avg time for cleaning one room) it can clean up all area of the room and pick up anything else but dust.

Don't know anyone encounted the same problem? Or just my bad luck to have a defect part.

iRobot 610 Roomba Professional Series Review

This is my very first roomba, and I wish I saw and read about this before Christmas so I could have asked hubby for it as gift. I did purchase mine from Hammacher Schlemmer because of the lifetime warranty, plus I got a free shipping on top of a off, so I got mine for 9.00 with all the add-on paraphernalia.

I work full time as an RN. I have only two-three days off in a week, sometimes I work weekends. We have 5 cats. Even if we have 3 teens who we have trained to "clean up," realistically, they do not do a good job of maintaining a clean house (or clean rooms), unless we parents are there to supervise. Hubby is also not much help, as he only volunteers to do a thorough clean up once in a blue moon, and picks up his mess once in a while.

Well, now that I got Viki (named after the iRobot movie's computer rebel), my youngest kid (12) was so fascinated that he immediately learned to use it and clean it when it came (before I even had the chance to do same). My husband was so enthralled with the technology (hubby does homebased job and is quite a technophile) and Viki's efficiency but knows how to "maintain" this expensive electronic gadget by keeping things off the floor (small wires, elastics, big pieces of paper, etc.), cleaning the brushes, saving Viki from her predicament in times it would "call" for help, and not wanting to run Viki everyday (which could potentially wear it off quickly). The implication? He now picks up his own mess and I don't have to restrain myself anymore from nagging him about it (he is one of the biggest mess-makers at home!). He enjoys seeing the dirt that accumulates in the bin after one cleaning.

Both of us enjoy coming home to a tidy house.

Now I am trading the time I used to bend, reach under bed/furniture with the traditional vacuum cleaner, push/pull the vacuum cable, etc., with time to run on my treadmill instead, while watching a movie

I am the happiest member now in our household, and when mama is happy, everyone is happy.

UPDATE as of 3-6-2010:

Viki (our Rooba's nickname) was beeping the other day, saying "error 2: remove brush cage and clean roomba's brushes." So I did. I usually do a thorough cleaning of brushes, including removal of the yellow parts to get the tangle of hairs and fur. The bin was not too full. I let her run, and did the same thing after 1 minute or so. Did this 3 times until I decided to check the website of iRoomba (I registered Viki as soon as we got her) for troubleshooting. Did as suggested, which led me to their form, which I filled in with required info the night of 3-4-2010. At the same time, I emailed the vendor, Hammacher Schlemmer, to tell them what I should do next after trying the troubleshooting per manufacturer's instruction. Hammacher Schlemmer emailed me back within minutes, with the advice on how to return a defective product. That was quick! On the other hand, iRobot sent me the next morning 3-5-2010 a generic response that they received my email and should get a response within 24 hours, which they did not, anyway. To cut the long story short, they would have made me go round and round before they would definitively act to resolve the issue.

Anyway, night of 3-4-2010, when I was emailing both vendors and iRobot about Viki, hubby noted that Viki's red light was on so he asked me what was wrong. I explained to him. He tried to see what could be wrong, especially when I told him Hammacher Schlemmer emailed me back right away, because he could not bear to see Viki leave us and be replaced by "someone else" as he already is quite attached to Viki. He opened more than what I would dare to (in trying not to do something that would make the guarantee null and void). He cleaned around the gears (he said some cat hair was pushing the gear off where it should be so the brushes were not turning). After he replaced the parts (even when he thought he dropped something), he tried to run Viki, and still had the same thumping sound with the brushes not turning. The next morning (3-6-2010)I asked my husband if I should get Viki ready for returning, he tinkered with it again and saw the small screw he missed the previous night, reassembled Viki, then ran her. She was working again like brand new! As in, vigorous, not missing a thing, etc. So this clogging deeper parts was despite cleaning the brushes and bin almost everyday (Viki was scheduled to do maintenance daily), just so you know. If you have a talent for tinkering without missing or misplacing tiny parts, you are all set. Viki is still a wonder household member who does her chores regularly with no complaints; only the minimal demand of being maintained (which overall/cumulatively does not take more than two hours in a month). I emailed Hammacher Schlemmer that we were able to resolve the issue but that I appreciated their prompt response, and said I would be a loyal customer and I would promote them to others (hence, the repeated mention of their company here).

One thing Roomba can be improved upon is a button to find her if she gets stuck somewhere and nobody is home to get her unstuck. I wish there was a button at the base that we can push so Roomba can make a beeping sound until we find her.

Our home is 3,000 sq feet, single story. I have a newly crawling baby and 3 other children a toddler and two children under 8. We also have one pet, a cat. So normally I would have to run the vacuum by hand after each meal. However, with the Roomba I have not had a need to do that. I have her run after dinner each evening in our dining area. Perfect! She picks up whatever the kids leave behind. Each morning I have her clean the family room, school room and game room. Once a week she does the bedrooms.
I had concerns that because of my children liking to leave things behind, toys, books, etc. We'd not be able to use the Roomba. But each evening after dinner we do what we call "Roomba clean" so that she can do her job without running into landminds of books or toys. The house looks amazing and the carpet and hard floors look so nice after she has done her job.
I am amazed at what the Roomba picks up. And boy does she go for awhile without having to be emptied.
The spot clean feature is great for small areas. Love that and use it often!

My cat is not scared of it, and he is a very jumpy cat. I was imagining a cat running scared. So I'd imagine most animals can tolerate it very well.

I have a pet dyson and though I loved that, I needed to push that, plug it in, move it from room to room. I don't have the hassle of me being involved in the cleaning with this, which works great so I can do other things while she handle the floors.

My only complaint is the light house/ virtual wall. I wish there were on off switches as it's truly a pain to have to put the batteries in to use it and take them out when I don't want it to (as they run as soon as the Roomba does) if you leave batteries in it. For the price of the Roomba I think it would be nice to have switches on those. But that's not enough to deter me from the Roomba.
Also with a household like mine, I do wish Irobot would offer a lifetime warranty. I didn't purchase from them because at the time the price was 9 and the warranty was just 2 years. I purchased from Hammacher Schlemmer as they had a free shipping coupon off, and a lifetime warranty. So out the door I paid 9.

I know some folks say they sleep when they run Roomba. I could not do so as I do find her to be a bit loud. I guess if you are able to shut your bedroom door maybe and confined her to another floor you could do that.

Every day I thank my husband for letting us use a bit of tax money for this little robot.

I am obsessively clean, this thing has been a lifesaver. My father has been raving about these things forever and I thought he was nuts. After spending the better part of every morning cleaning my house so that my daughter would not be touching pet hairs by the time she woke up, I caved and bought one. I now wake up to immaculate floors, it is wonderful. This machine is for daily maintenance. If you bring it into a home with filthy floors, do not expect a miracle, you are going to break your machine. I am not sure why people have complained about cleaning it. I have found that it takes 3 minutes tops, and I actually remove and wash the parts daily. I use the spare parts that came in the accessory box interchangeably while the ones I wash dry. I can't say enough good things about this machine, my husband has the most disgusting cat ever, handfuls of hair come off every time he is pet despite being brushed daily. There is now NO hair on the floor in the morning after the irobot runs, and much less effort for daily maintenance of my furniture too now that all that hair isn't flying around. I highly highly recommend it!!!! It is expensive though, I recommend buying the one sold by hammacher schlemmer, as it has a lifetime guarantee. Like I said my dad has been using these forever, and they do break every 1-2 years, why not prepay the expense and know it will be replaced no questions asked.

If your looking for something to vacume around the house other than doing it yourself, this maybe the vacume for you. It is NOT a product to replace your vacume.

The Good & The Bad.

Good

1. Does pick up just about everything.
2. Easy to use.
3. Dirt tray takes awhile to fill up and is easy to empty.
4. Not as loud as most vacumes.

The Bad

1. If you have large rooms, (over 15X15) it may miss some places before it needs to go back to it's base to charge.
2. It won't deep vacume like your standard vacume will. For the size of the unit it does a good job.
3. I have a coffee table that has criss cross wood spindles that it gets stuck under and you need to pull it out from. This is a disadvantage because I can't let it run in this area when I'm out.
4. The side brush that helps remove dirt along walls can flick some things out of the path of the vacume and it may not go over this area again.
5. Pet hair will wrap around pins that hold the brushes in place so the unit must be maintained more than a normal vac.
6. With 3000+ sq.ft. I don't like having to move it from room to room, if I don't it wont hold a charge long enough to clean. Also, if it goes down a hall and into another room, it may not get back out to finish the room it started in. You need to have the infared walls to keep it in the rooms you want cleaned then move the unit to the next area.

So to sum it up. If it was possible to teach the unit your floor plan, program it which rooms to clean so it would know where they are, have it get back to it's charging station from any area of the house and not get stuck under my coffee table, it would be perfect!

Handy Add On, but Way over Priced - Lost My Mind - California, United States
The Roomba Virtual Wall works with the 500-series Roomba's. No guarantees on it working for other series.

The product works as advertised, effectively keeping Roomba from crossing an invisible "wall". The wall isn't quite straight over long distances, but it's close enough. The virtual wall is less hassle than moving furniture or boxes to close Roomba in a room or certain space. Most Roomba's come with at least 1 virtual wall so prospective buyers should already know how to use one, how well it works (or doesn't), and why they would want more.

The reason for the 3-stars is the high price. The product itself is not very sophisticated and only a minor update on the previous generation Virtual Walls. It provides no added functionality, battery life is only slightly higher, and it's not any smaller.

I could easily give this product 5-stars if it were half the price... As such, I make due with the one "freebie" and one extra I bought. Ideally, I'd like to get one or two more to take care of a few corners Roomba tends to get stuck.

But, as with most products, accessories and replacement parts is where the real money is made. The iRobot Roomba's are no exception to this rule.

iRobot 82401 Roomba R3 500 Series Replacement-Brush and Filters Kit Review

This series is not cheap, but worth it. I have a Roomba 565, which I love as a rule, but it is necessary that the amount of cleaning of the device, it is sometimes frustrating. "Sure, if I did not have 4 cats, might be less ...;) This sentence helps releve, the frustration. Something This set comes with 3 filters, which are essentially the same ones that came with the Roomba itself together the brush of a small spider, which helps to draw order from corners and walls, it is interesting (with only a 3-brushinstead of 5 or 6, the original was), and a beater bar and brush set. But the real gem here is the little red plastic brush clean. I do not know if these vessels with the latest Roombas or not, but should - this little thing is great. What you do is run with the large brush through and remove all the hair, rope, wire, etc., which become entangled in the brush and allows them to be thrown in a heap. Not collect all the things out of the brush by hand! Fasterbetter and easier. In addition, the brush seems to get better quality and have a slightly better job than the amount that comes with the Roomba - I imagine people from iRobot that design tweaks things ever and it shows.

Although the Christmas period this product was delivered promptly. These products are needed for this machine. I bought this vacuum for my elderly mother and seems to work very well.

The style of brush is the one that came with my unit (530) different and I like this one better. Even if they do not like the side brushes have not found a way to stay on the subject (which, after so many years, this unit is that I am surprised). I think it should come with at least 3 side brushes (or at least extra screws!), Because after the 1st use of what has already come out and the screw is gone.

This set comes with 3 filters that are basically identical to what came with the Roomba itself, plus one of the little spinning brushes that helps pull stuff out from corners and the wall (interestingly, with only 3 brushes to it instead of the 5 or 6 the original had), plus a beater bar and brush set. But the real gem here is the little red plastic brush cleaner. I don't know if this ships with the newer Roombas or not, but it should - this little thing is great. What you do with it is run the large brush through it and it strips all the fur, string, threads, etc. that get caught in the brush out and allows them to be thrown away all in one clump. No more picking all that stuff out of the brush by hand! Faster, better, and easier. Additionally, the brushes seem to be a better quality and do a slightly better job than the set that came with the Roomba - I'd imagine the folks at iRobot are always making design tweaks to things and it shows.

iRobot 530 Roomba Vacuuming Robot, White Review

We love our Roomba. It's smart about stairs, smart about going from hard flooring to even very thick rugs, it vacuums much better than our standard vacuum (which was top of the line just 5 years ago), and we love that it can get itself out of corners and untangle itself from most wires. As long as you make a bit of effort to clean up after yourself before setting it into motion, you'll find it a huge time-saver and it does a terrific job!

However there are a few things we don't like, all of which are minor to us despite the length of the list:
* Took it to my mom's house; she had a "ponytail plant" on the ground. Hard to describe the plant, but the important part is that the thin leaves got wound around its rotating dusting arm and nearly pulled the plant over. Fortunately, I was watching and caught it before that happened.
* Sometimes the cords from blinds get wrapped around that rotating arm too. Best to get your cords up off the ground.
* Though it's smart about standard AC extension cords and audio/video cord that are sufficiently thick, it sometimes tries to inhale very thin low-voltage DC wiring, such as you might use with the charger for a cordless phone or a baby monitor. Sometimes it actually pulls the plug out of the wall. ...but that didn't stop it, it apparently figured it out and continued on, pushing the wire aside for me to deal with later.
* Pet hair and my daughter's long hair gets wrapped around the ends of the brushes and is hard to clean. First time it managed to pop up the ending of one of the brushes, couldn't make it fit back in the unit and didn't understand why. Forced it in and the brush became bowed until they worked themselves loose. I didn't even realize the little yellow knobs at the end of the removable brush and sweeper units were removable until I checked the manual. Once removed, I saw a thick ring of hair neatly wrapped under the yellow spoke caps that I cleaned.
* Terribly inefficient. The same battery could last 5 rooms easily (instead of 3) if its "pong"-like or billiard ball like motion of bouncing off the walls took into account places in the room where it has already been and avoided repeating work. ...but like I say, it seems to be sucking up a lot that our other vacuum never touched, so maybe passing over the same spot 10-12 times is really necessary. Time-wise that's okay; it eventually hits every part of the room at least once and it's still a time-saver not to have to operate an upright vacuum cleaner.

Again, still a great product that we love, a huge time saver, and amusing for the kids to watch. Just have to make sure to check the room a bit before we let it loose.

Mixed Feelings - Lots of maintenance - D. Sacco -
So my husband got this for me 2 Christmas's ago because I REALLY wanted one to clean mainly my bedroom which has hardwood floors. We have 2 dogs - one sheds the other doesn't. Worked great at first - I close the door and it would run. Soon though I would spend 1/2 MY TIME unclogging it (without even a lot of hair in it) or finding it stuck on something. Keeping the side brush attached is just a waste of time - it doesn't happen. It was one of the reasons my husband GOT this model for me - and it's the most annoying part of it. No bumps, obstacles or anything in it's way and the brush is found on the floor somewhere and who KNOWS where the screw is for it. For the last 5 months it has been sitting dormant because it was too much hassle and the battery died. I decided to give it another chance and ordered a new battery and new brushes. I swept my room before I started it and just this morning - the side brush is gone (less than 10 minutes) and it got tangled in a flat cord on the floor, stuck somehow under a table and now beeped again. So I find myself going and fixing it when I was trying to do other things while it did that one chore for me. This mom of 4 is not really thrilled with it - and all I wanted was a clean bedroom floor. I won't get another one - it's quicker for me to vacuum the room myself instead of fixing this thing all the time.

We use the Roomba for a finished basement and bottom line: IT WORKS! It's a little loud - my only complaint -- but it is a vacuum. It's very easy to use and you can use some wireless sensors to confine the vacuum to the area you want cleaned. It's pertty amazing that it senses when the charge is winding up so it goes back to the docking station to re-charge. It was well worth the money.

I've had this battery for a week now and would like to revise my review. It works great! Even better then my original Roomba battery. I originally gave it 4 stars because although it arrived very quickly, it appeared to be used when it was listed as "Brand new." However, after 1 week of using the battery in my 500 series Roomba, the battery works terrific. I'm constantly expecting the Roomba to need a charge after 30 min or so but it just keeps on going and I could not be happier. So in fairness, I'm giving it a full 5 stars as the appearance of a battery is nowhere near as important as how well it works. For the price and for the results, I'd order another, thanks!

My iRobot (Roby) would only clean for a few minutes and then need recharging so I ordered a new iRobot R3 500 series APS battery. I had hesitated for quite awhile because I was leary of ordering a battery online. Who knew if it would actually fit or even improve performance if it did fit. I should not have hesitated, because once the battery came and was charged, Roby now performs as well as he did when he was new. The battery took about 5 days longer to arrive than the vendor said (I think because they sent it by USPS rather than UPS)but it fit and it works. Both Roby and I are happy and running at full speed.

If your looking for something to vacume around the house other than doing it yourself, this maybe the vacume for you. It is NOT a product to replace your vacume.

The Good & The Bad.

Good

1. Does pick up just about everything.
2. Easy to use.
3. Dirt tray takes awhile to fill up and is easy to empty.
4. Not as loud as most vacumes.

The Bad

1. If you have large rooms, (over 15X15) it may miss some places before it needs to go back to it's base to charge.
2. It won't deep vacume like your standard vacume will. For the size of the unit it does a good job.
3. I have a coffee table that has criss cross wood spindles that it gets stuck under and you need to pull it out from. This is a disadvantage because I can't let it run in this area when I'm out.
4. The side brush that helps remove dirt along walls can flick some things out of the path of the vacume and it may not go over this area again.
5. Pet hair will wrap around pins that hold the brushes in place so the unit must be maintained more than a normal vac.
6. With 3000+ sq.ft. I don't like having to move it from room to room, if I don't it wont hold a charge long enough to clean. Also, if it goes down a hall and into another room, it may not get back out to finish the room it started in. You need to have the infared walls to keep it in the rooms you want cleaned then move the unit to the next area.

So to sum it up. If it was possible to teach the unit your floor plan, program it which rooms to clean so it would know where they are, have it get back to it's charging station from any area of the house and not get stuck under my coffee table, it would be perfect!

Junk - Davido - Ohio
I can't vouch for the newer series of Roombas, but my older one, the "Pro Elite", was a piece of junk. The battery & electronics went kaput in about six months of very light use, and the rubber came off a wheel. Unfortunately, I was tired of dealing with this finiky novelty vac and stored the thing away. Later, I tried to get replacement parts after warranty was out (my mistake). Instead of investing in a 0 to refurbish, I threw it out and bought a Hoover cordless stick vacHoover Platinum Collection Linx Cordless Stick Vacuum which I am pleased with (so far). The other thing with these small robot-vacs is that they are high maintenance. The canisters are tiny and hold an amazingly small amount of debris and the brushes, etc. need constant cleaning. Waaay too much trouble.

Great battery life and good performance - Luis Franco -
The Irobot 610 is performing accordly to our expectations. It reaches underneath the furniture (including our king-sized bed).

When looking at this product a couple months ago, I saw generally favorable reviews but the exception was a couple (I think one from Consumer Reports or someplace similar) saying it was good but you could vacuum a room much faster. I thought this was a really clueless critique. Of course you can vacuum faster, but here I don't have to do it AT ALL because the Roomba can vacuum while I am gone or in another room. I can't measure this, but I figure it picks up the vast majority of the dirt and dust (75%?), but you will have to do a deep vacuuming and/or mopping occassionally. You do have to empty after each use and it works best if you limit it to one room. So there is a certain amount of frequent interaction with it. But I kind of getting a kick out of setting it loose on a room or two and then seeing how much dust it found that I would have otherwise walking around on.

Now the constructive criticism. They should make them a little shorter to fit under more sofas. They're not especially loud, but quieter would be great. And they should improve the object-sensing technology so that it can slow down before bumping into more objects at full speed. (For large objects like a wall it will slow down and just touch it before sensing it has to turn the way; for a small object like a chair or table leg, it doesn't slow down so you hear lots of bumping around. But it never damages finishes or anything). All of these are probably things they are working on and will happen in a few years as the technology improves.

Not good for Cat Hair !! - ECK -

I bought the Roomba 560 on 10-07 for my house.
I have 2 cats and the Roomba dose not do well with cat hair !
Any thing that turns gets hair rapped around it until the Roomba stops working
Then I spend a good 15-20 minutes taking it apart and pulling the cat hair out from around all the axles that turn. Only then will it run right.
When the black & white sensor ball wheel gets full of hair the Roomba starts going around in circles! Then I know its time for hair removal !
It's ok for JUST dirt, but then it messy to clean, I always do it outside on my deck because too much dirt flies around !
I have been using it for the last few years but it needs work...
I HOPE the design engineers read this and make this thing hair proof !!

Short Life-Span - AVSJ - Maryland
I purchased a used one of these as a gift (requested) for my wife. For the first 3 months we were very satisfied; and then it just stopped working. I bought new batteries, put it through it's computerized reset cycle and spent hours on the line with the manufacturer - to no avail. The presecription was to buy another one! (because we purchased used, there was no warranty from iRobot).

My guess is the device will not stand up to normal use in a moderately sized house. It will clean one room on a charge - if you want your whole house vacuumed, you need to run it every day and it just won't take that kind of use.

A clever idea still waiting for materials that will stand up to the job.

I've had 2 Discovery series (400) in a row which I was very happy with. The problem with them is they only last about a year. This new one (560) is probably the best one I've had. It is *much* quieter, the Discoverys sounded like trains going over train tracks. Definately recommend the 560 but get it at Best Buy or somewhere that offers the extended warranty otherwise you'll be spending 0-0 every year.

Let me say first of all, I love this thing, and if you have doubts about the product usually Roomba yourself a favor and buy one. This is a must if you have an apartment or a studio and not turn away the time or energy.

The product works as promised and clean up everything, what would be a broom. Its even better because you can become in some mobile and requires little work on your side. I say a little work, since there are some things that reallyParalyze the Roomba.

To not see the cliff sensors work. I have a virtual wall using supplies (without batteries) to prevent the Roomba would be in my bathroom. The bathroom is just a few inches below the rest of the apartment without the wall, would guide the Roomba on this board, but not able to go out again.

The other thing that totally paralyzes Roomba plastic bags and wire. The Roomba is entirely choked on plastic bags, andthen the bags have fallen in its wheels. They struggle to get out continuously until the battery life. The Roomba will suck the cables and wires on the ground, like a laptop or a battery charger for mobile phones. Not allow this to go, but will continue to clean and drive like a dog on a leash until it runs the battery is discharged.

Finally, it has a tendency to use things like shoes or clothes on the floor around the apartment (and under the furniture) to move.

I recommend this product, but I think that iRobot has his work cut out for them in future Roombas more stress and more comfortable.

I love my Roomba. Its much better than I expected.
I live in a small apartment, and I never again, thanks to my Roomba vacuum.
If it breaks, I would buy another overnight.

Started off happy, but breaks quickly and warranty not honored - Brian C - Kansas CIty, MO
Like most of the reviews I was initially very happy with the Roomba, and enter a very positive 5 star reviews, but the robot has broken after less than a year. I learned not only that it is very cheaply built, but its poor design makes it vulnerable to dust, would be likely to rise.

It turns out, its sides are very sensitive to dust, which is an important issue for a vacuum cleaner. None of the steps, Barings or moving parts are sealed in dust, and start, Grind until they fail. Even the gears and bearings that guide the shrubs are not closed, left vulnerable to dust and dirt are designed to get them.

Finally, the brushes on the floor anymore. The technical support person confirmed that it still under warranty, and that was a failure to learn more about the problem with the design. She has never refused to replace it. The only thing that would have offered was to send me the new parts that I myself would have to be replaced. II said no technology of any kind and I do not feel was qualified to replace the small gears, which must be installed with precision. They said, send me the parts that did for me.

MY HUSBAND ORDERED IN ROBO vacuum December, which will be sent no later than 12 December. We never received the order and had a hell of time to discover what happened to it. FINALLY I canceled the order.

iRobot R3 500 series APS Battery Review

I bought the battery from ultrasound on Amazon, if my original Roomba was 2 years after the end of the battery. I did not like the price on the iRobot site and pay the local battery store wanted $ 20 more. After installation and the charging time of battery on my Roomba is back to do) three to four rooms, without a break and a very strong connection with the headlights (both wall and lighthouse. The battery worked for about three months. It 'nice to have the old Roombaback.

Take a second to familiarize yourself with your robot's instruction manual. Make sure you understand how it works and what are its constraints. Yes, it'd sound time consuming, but it might get worst if you do not do things as instructed in the manual and affect the vacuum robot's efficiency on the short and long term.

Find the absolute best place in your office or home to settle your robot vacuum. Bare in mind that it needs room to breath.

Avoid places where there are several stumbling blocks and reflective surfaces like mirrors, which can meddle with the androids sensors.

Light sensors on your robot can be affected by dark and/or plush carpet floors. The robot might mistake the surface as a cliff and act erratically trying to back up.

Battery matters

guarantee your robot's battery is completely charged before the first use. This can take up to sixteen hours. Be patient! In a number of cases, your new friend may require some cleaning and charging cycles to reach optimal cleaning capacity. You are without question anxious and happy about getting your new robot to do a first house or office clean, but not providing correct battery charge time may affect the performance and capacity of the vacuum. In addition to the virtual wall feature, lighthouses may also be switched to the lighthouse mode.
